The Capacity Warranty
Nissan provides a Lithium-ion Battery Capacity Coverage warranty which protects against capacity loss below 9 bars of capacity (out of 12) as shown on the vehicle’s battery capacity level gauge for a period of 96 months or 100,000 miles.
The Phoenix Challenge
Because the Nissan Leaf uses a passive air-cooled battery system, the extreme temperatures in Phoenix accelerate capacity loss significantly. Many Leaf owners in AZ find their batteries dropping below the 9-bar threshold well before the 8-year mark.

Pro Tip: 12V Battery
Before pursuing a high-voltage battery claim, ensure your 12V lead-acid battery is in perfect health. A failing 12V battery can cause a myriad of EV system errors that look like main battery failure.
